Long Lost Photo: On the Island of Sardinia, Italy

Sardinia, Italy

1st Lt. Elder;  Me (2nd from Left); then GySgt. Ken Bridges; Sgt. Bender (?)
(Med Cruise 1973-1974 and Operation on Sardinia in May 1974)

We are all aboard the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), which at the time was the flag ship of the 2nd Fleet during our 6-month cruise in that region of the world. Found this old picture in my files and wanted to share it ...

We all worked in the "Green Room" (Intel center). I headed up the Interrogation Team (me and one other Marine) - both Russian language skilled interrogators.

The Whitney is considered the most sophisticated Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence (C4I) ship ever commissioned. Currently she is the flag ship of the 6th Fleet.
